Ohio Farm Bureau Federation’s Featured Legislator: Rep. Bruce Goodwin

Ohio Farm Bureau Federation’s Featured Legislator: Rep. Bruce Goodwin

The Ohio Farm Bureau Federation would like to put the spotlight on freshman representative, Bruce Goodwin of Defiance.  Rep. Goodwin is the OFBF’s featured legislator because of his hard work in establishing the “Ohio Agriculture” license plate.

Rep. Goodwin sponsored HB 293, which was the legislation necessary to establish the license plate.  After much diligence and dedication on the part of Rep. Goodwin, the bill was finally signed into law by Gov. Ted Strickland on May 14, 2008.   It was Rep. Goodwin’s leadership that brought all the necessary parties together to make this license plate a reality.

The “Ohio Agriculture” license plate will be available for purchase July 30th at your local Bureau of Motor Vehicles. The cost of the plate is an additional $20. Funds from the license plate will be used for scholarships for students studying agriculture or a related field at an Ohio institution of higher learning.  The scholarship funds will be disbursed by a board made up of representatives from the Ohio agriculture industry, including: a representative from the Ohio Department of Agriculture, the Ohio Agriculture Council, the Ohio Corn Growers Association, the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation, the Ohio Soybean Association, the Ohio Young Farmers Association and Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.
